Frequently asked questions
You can book as soon as you’re ready. If you’re coming for an early dating scan, many parents book from around 5 weeks. For a sexing scan, 14 weeks is the usual starting point. If you’re hoping for the best 4D/HD images, 27–31 weeks is often the ideal time to see your baby’s features in more detail.
The exact time depends on the type of scan you choose. Early dating scans are usually quick, while 4D scans can take a little longer because they include paperwork and picture selection. As a guide, please allow around 5–10 minutes for an early scan, 10–20 minutes for most other scans, and up to 30 minutes for a 4D appointment. We’ll always do our best to keep things relaxed and smooth for you.
Yes — when ultrasound is performed by qualified professionals, it is considered safe. Your scan will be carried out by experienced, state-registered sonographers in our family-friendly clinic, so you can feel reassured and looked after throughout your visit. If you have any concerns before your appointment, just ask and we’ll be happy to help.
Absolutely! If your baby has a known condition, you can still have a scan with us. In fact, we offer a complimentary 4D scan for families with an antenatal diagnosis of a cleft lip or palate. For early pregnancy scans, a comfortably full bladder can help before 16 weeks, so we usually suggest drinking a large glass of water about an hour before you arrive. After 16 weeks, you normally won’t need a full bladder. If a different scan needs anything specific, we’ll let you know when you book.
